Comments:   This is in reference to the parents questioning a player that played super junior in the spring and is now on a 5th grade team. In order to play on a 5th grade team a player must be 10 by August 1st. He may be a 4th grader, but if they turn 10 by that date they play as a 5th grader, they would have to repeat playing as a 5th grader until they go into the 6th grade, then they would follow with their class. With playing juniors in the spring, they just cannot turn 10 before March or April 1st. If the player turned 10 on June 1st (this is an example), they would have been able to play as a 9 year old in the spring and as a 10 year old on a 5th grade team. My own son could not play 5th grade ball as a 5th grader as he missed turning 10 by the deadline of August 1st.

Comments:   Quick question. Are the coaches supposed to be teaching there players good sportsmanship or is that just left to common sense? My son plays on a diffrent team then the kids he went to school with and the other kids are very cruel and have even made comments about "taking him out" when they play. I contacted both coaches, but nothing has been done to rectify the situation. So again i ask are our kids supposed to be learning sportsmanship or to just win at all costs regardless of who gets hurt?

Comments:   I agree. I have seen kids that played this season on the supers that are playing juniors. I too didn't think you could and was told no. It is only 1 game into the season and there is still time to make them sit out the year. Hold everyone accountable for the rules. Contact the coaches and make those not eligible sit out.

Comments:   How is it that certain players are allowed to play both super juniors and juniors in the same season? How can fourth graders be allowed to play with the 5th grade team? It is not fair to the other players. Isn't there a list of who played super juniors? Don't you check birth certificates and ask questions? I wish you would check and make those who slipped through the cracks wait with the others, or is it just a select few and an extra $170.00?

Comments:   The parent who thinks the bigger kids should be required to move up or not play at all should be emarrassed by their comments. To suggest the heavier kids are a problem and we should get rid of them is one of the most self centered and ignorant remarks I've ever heard. So, you think we should move up a child who is also a first time player and make him play with older kids just because he weighs more than your child? What about that child. He isn't going to be ready for that because weight doesn't determine ability or maturity.

Comments:   As a parent with an average sized kid, I would like to see the teams be more weight appropriate, not just divided up by grade. The few kids that are oversize/overweight need to either play up (next grade) or not be allowed to play at all. Not letting them carry the ball is not a solution, they can still hurt the regular sized kids when they tackle, run into, etc. I realize football isn't a sissy sport, but come on, these are still kids and some of them are playing for their first time!!! This would also give the overweight kids a reason to lose some weight, which alone is a good thing!

Comments:   I have been exposed to this organization for nearly 5 years. I have volunteered my services to this organization willingly with greatest admiration for the parents and the children that I got to work with. However there is a common trend that has been ignored and has yet to be addressed. I am speaking about being role models to our local youth and the future of this great country. Within this role I have done my best with the exception of the occasional profanity, granted we are all human. Yet after games there is time to disclose to those ears that heard that profanity, holding myself accountable, apologizing to the parents and kids. I have watched this organization on the sideline and said nothing derogatory about MCJFA. I do not want this to be taken in a negative tone but as role models we cannot be exposing players to Tobacco, whether it is smoking or chewing. I have noticed for some time now that a great deal of the herald icons of times past my own experience within this league all have a dip in their mouth while dealing with kids or parents. And yes this is pointed toward most of the board members, because of your positions you should hold yourself more professionally just on principal. In addition to this issue of exposure of tobacco as us as role models I think it is far past time for the league to impose a no smoking policy within at least 30 feet (Colorado state ordnance for all state buildings). With Asthma being more recognized and worried about in sports, why even have this near the playing field where "OUR" kids are playing, and elderly, younger/older siblings, and etc are going to be exposed by some being oblivious to the fact or possibility. Would any of this be any different than cracking a beer with the kids after a game? It is just something to consider. I feel that as a whole within the league to take an avid stance in claiming a tobacco free field.
